BACKGROUND

Initially three friends - Amanda, Jayne and Sharon got together to raise £3,800 to buy an electric wheelchair for a friend suffering with Multiple Sclerosis; this was in 1997. These three became five, joined by Julia and Sally with the next project being to raise £5,000 to send a local lad with cerebral palsy to Island Dolphin Care in Florida in 2003.  These were the seeds that were planted to inspire us to go on and do more...

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS

In 2007 "M.A.D. FRIENDS" was formed as the membership grew........ the first campaign as a group was hugely successful raising almost £14,000 for Acorns children's hospice.

MacMillan Cancer Support was the chosen beneficiary for 2008, nominated by Amanda in appreciation of the care given to her late mother.  The campaign generated a £10,900 donation.

Local charity  'Sutton Coldfield Special Olympics' were the next recipients in 2009 benefitting hugely from £9,800 raised. This was acknowledged by Kevin Stableford of SCSO with the following quote:

"We have greatly enjoyed working with M.A.D Friends and truely amazed with the amount raised.  Their tireless energy and enthusiasm together with a professional approach and attention to detail was very impressive. The money raised will make a tremendous  difference."
